India: New scheme to incentivise EV manufacturing soon
India plans to offer fresh incentives to companies making electric vehicles (EVs) as part of a broad auto sector scheme it expects to attract $14 billion of investment over five years, according to industry sources. The new automotive sector scheme, however, has been under discussion since mid-2020 to provide a more focused approach, industry sources close to the matter told Reuters. The plans envisage $8 billion of incentives for carmakers and suppliers over a five-year period to drive large investment in the sector.
Sony (SNE), NTT Docomo conduct autonomous vehicle trial in Japan
Sony Corporation SNE, along with NTT Docomo Inc., announced the successful trial of a remotely-operated Sony Sociable Cart (SC-1) entertainment vehicle. This vehicle carried passengers for more than 2,500 kilometers, via a 5G network.
India: More consumers ready to buy electric vehicles
A survey, conducted by CarDekho and Omnicom Media Group (OMG), has found that an increasing number of Indian customers are willing to buy electric vehicles. According to the survey, 66% of the respondents said they were willing to buy electric vehicles, out of which 53% were strongly inclined to go electric. Among those surveyed, 13% were not yet ready for the transformation, whereas 19% decline to go either way.
Hyundai Motor and Singtel MOU
